| Only five
years ago we thought cancer was a disease that
only affected adults…we were so wrong! We had
no idea that so many children were suffering
as a result of this horrible disease. On May
16, 2000, our world collapsed and we entered
the very real and very terrifying world of
pediatric cancer. The low-grade temperature we
thought was the result of a springtime cold
was actually Neuroblastoma, a rare and
aggressive childhood tumor. Just over two
years later, on October 19, 2002 we lost our
beautiful son. |

Jon’s tragic death was
the beginning of a crusade for us. Witnessing Jon’s
strength and courage throughout his illness has
empowered us to develop this program. At Jonathan’s
Hope, we don’t believe any family should experience
financial exhaustion as a result of a catastrophic
illness such as childhood cancer. We exist to help
offset the overwhelming costs associated with a
chronically ill child. |

| Although we
primarily focus our attention on children
living or receiving treatment in West
Virginia, we believe its important to make a
difference in the life of every child fighting
cancer. |
| |
| Since its
inception in December 2002, Jonathan’s Hope
has lent support to more than 300 families
with a child battling cancer. Through our
family support program we have provided
support for housing, grocery, gasoline,
telephone, and car repair expenses as well as
purchased clothing and special toys for
childhood cancer patients. |

We envision a world
where children are not affected by a cancer. However
until that day arrives, Jonathan’s Hope is committed
to sparing families and children the fears, anger,
isolation and financial struggles associated with
the treatment of this disease. |
